Half-day Seminars
These seminars last for four hours and are designed to give attendees an introduction to public speaking. They are ideally suited to be part of a staff development programme, a starter experience for follow-up Small Group Training (please see below) or as a bonus event for employees.
Covered are
- The Three Pillars of Communicating in Public
- Topic Development
- Five Top Tips for Public Speaking
Although there is less scope for attendee participation due to time constraints, up to three people will be offered the chance to give a model presentation on which to demonstrate aspects of the material covered. The conclusion of the seminar is an open Question and Answer session.
While being cost-effective (limited staff downtime, recommended for up to 30 attendees, motivational) our short seminars offer high impact and prestige (unusual subject, action tips, emphasis on development of the individual while benefiting the company).
They can also be used to offer an exceptional bonus to members. In turn a organisational message can easily be built in.
Small Group Training
This is intensive training for a maximum of eight people. Sessions are designed to last about six hours but, in reality, are open-ended in that the educational process will never be cut short just because of a set time. So long as there are questions and subjects to be covered participants will not be abandoned.
The core element of this is full attendee involvement. Everyone gives a short presentation in front of the group. This is the basis for collective exploration of what public speaking is all about and how it should look in practice. As in almost all our programmes the emphasis is on learning by doing, aided by the trainer.
There is a very strong psychological element here, where belief in one’s own natural ability to communicate is strengthened and participants are helped to remove mental barriers. Attendees build confidence not only for but also through public speaking. They acquire new facts about stage craft, the Rule of 3s, how to speak without notes and other valuable tools.
This workshop guarantees high participant satisfaction. 100% of our attendees to this day would recommend it to colleagues. Because of this it has a direct positive effect for the organisation in form of improved overall communication, getting the corporate message across and taking on constructive leadership. It has also shown to be an excellent way to raise the profile of an organisation when offered as a development programme to members.
A two-day version – either back-to-back or pre-booked within two months – is also available. It provides the opportunity to deepen what has been learned and go into more detail.
Training Material
We also provide stand-alone training material in formats such as
- podcasts
- CD-ROMs
- newsletter content
The subject matter can be tailored completely to the organisation’s particular requirements. Past examples are:
- Communication in practice
- How to communicate and why
- How to identify one’s message
- The importance of being earnest
- Top Tips for
- Chairing an event
- Creating a strong message
- Handling Question & Answer sessions/
- Interviews on subjects chosen by the client (with professionals, participants, employees, etc.)
The benefits are wide-ranging. It can be designed to dovetail with other staff or member schemes, whether presented by ourselves, internally or other providers. Most importantly, all material can be branded and, therefore, given the appearance of being part of the organisation’s culture and/or message. As all content is licensed to the client to various degrees, it is highly cost-effective by being reusable. It can also form part of marketing material (gifts for clients, branding, featuring the corporate message [e.g., customer newsletter]).
Whether for existing members or a scheme to attract new ones, the content can be used to offer skills that can be transferred directly into members’s businesses / organisations.
